Jermaine adds two more!

Published: 30. 01. 2010

Jermaine added two more goals to his tally in Leeds 2-0 home win against Colchester at Elland Road. The first goal came from the penalty spot after 38 minutes, when Luciano Becchio was awarded a penalty after former United defender Matt Heath was adjudged to have fouled him in the area.

McSheffrey almost scored on his Leeds debut but Williams once again produced a great save. After a slow start to the game, Leeds went in at half time deservedly in the lead.

Jermaine Beckford had the best chance at the start of the second half, McSheffrey found Beckford on the edge of the area and his shot was saved by Williams and pushed wide for a corner.

From the resulting corner, McSheffrey`s shot was on target but hit Beckford on the back and cleared the bar. Leeds did increase the lead soon afterwards, Howson`s shot hit the post and Beckford was quickest to react and score his second of the afternoon and his 24th of the season.

Beckford thought he had his hat trick but his effort was ruled out for offside. Bradley Johnson replaced Debutant Shane Lowry after picking up an injury. Fellow debutant Gary McSheffrey was replaced late on after making an impressive debut, Max Gradel was his replacement, who was making his first home appearance since signing full time for Leeds.

Gradel almost scored within minutes of coming on but Williams pushed out his shot for a corner. From the resulting corner, Bromby`s header hit the bar. A good three points for Leeds especially after the disappointing performance against Swindon Town in midweek.

Becks at the double!

Published: 24. 01. 2010

A brace from Leeds legend Jermaine Beckford ensured Leeds came from behind twice, to force a fourth round F.A Cup replay against Tottenham. United were lucky not to fall behind within the first 10 minutes, Casper Ankergren was the hero of the first half pulling off a series of world class saves.

Ankergren was again in inspired form following his masterful display at Manchester United in the last round. The big Dane pulled off a string of saves in the first ten minutes, the biggest when he dived low to his left to keep out a Jermaine Defoe penalty. Beckford who has been in the spotlight since the third round win was also beginning to cause the Spurs back line a few problems.

After some poor defending by Dawson, Beckford found himself one on one with Bassong but he screwed his left foot shot wide of the post. A few minutes later he was once again put through, this time Gomes saved his stinging left foot volley at full stretch.

Spurs wide men had been getting behind the defence on regular intervals during the first half and after another Bale run down the left found Kranjcar on the edge of the box, his shot was only blocked by Ankergren by his feet and the rebound went straight out to Crouch who fired past the grounded keeper.

Leeds were back in the tie within ten minutes of the restart following a Snodgrass corner, after a scramble inside the six yard box, that man Beckford was once again in the right place to swivel and shoot under Gomes.

Another substitute for Spurs was to fire the hosts back into the lead within a few minutes of coming on. Roman Pavlyuchenko who had just come on guided the ball past Ankergren after a good flowing move.

Leeds were given renewed hope when Alan Wiley who had given us nothing all afternoon somehow found five minutes of 'Fergie Time`. 6 Minutes into injury time Alan Wiley pointed to the penalty spot awarding Leeds a penalty after Beckford was felled in the box. This sent the travelling Leeds fans into a frenzy, but after finally calming down a few realised that Leeds record from the penalty spot in the past few seasons hasn`t been very good.

Beckford who had missed his last two from the spot for Leeds composed himself before firing his kick high into the left hand side of the net and send the 4,000 plus travelling support wild. Moments after the restart Wiley blew the whistle for full time and once again, the Leeds United FA Cup rollercoaster shows no sign of stopping.

Jermaine Decides To Stay!

Published: 17. 01. 2010

Yesterday we provided you with an exclusive story that Jermaine was to remain with Leeds United until at least the end of this season. Today the news has gone public after United released an official statement. The statement described how negotiations with Jermaine regarding a new contract are ongoing.

The striker has been heavily linked with a move to Championship table toppers Newcastle after scoring 20 times for the Whites this season.

However, Beckford has now decided to wait until the summer to resolve his future, although Leeds risk losing him for nothing as his contract is due to expires at the end of this season.

Beckford, who scored the winning goal in the recent FA Cup victory at Manchester United, told the club's official website: "After a lot of thinking over the last few days I have decided to withdraw my transfer request and commit my immediate future to Leeds United.

"It was never a comfortable decision to ask for a transfer in the first place, but after the game against Manchester United and the unbelievable reaction from the Leeds United supporters in the Wycombe match I have decided I want to finish what I have been striving to do for the last two seasons - and that is to help promote Leeds United out of a division which the club doesn't belong."

Manager Simon Grayson added: "I'm keen to draw a line under the situation and now we can all move on together."

Jermaine followed up this announcement by updating his facebook status thanking Leeds fans. It read

"has decided to stay at the club i love sorry to the fans after 2 bad results in the league and a really good result in the F.A cup looking forward to the Tottenham game but what matters most is getting the 3 points against Carlisle come on!"

Jermaine later followed with:

"jb is gonna come back to the league with confidence and play for the hearts of Leeds, not the contract from another club. See what happens, the clubs going forward. Get down Elland Road and cheers us on, marching on together!"

Jermaine To Stay??????!

Published: 16. 01. 2010

A source close to Jermaine has indicated that he may well still be a Leeds United player come the end of the season. An announcement is expected to me made this coming Monday. Jermaine is in the starting line-up for United's long trip to face Exeter City at St James Park. If this news is true it is surely excellent news for all United fans.

Leeds are known for being tough in their transfer dealings. With Ken Bates at the helm, United are unlikely to let Jermaine leave if they believe he can fire them into the Championship.

I'm confident that Jermaine himself is happy at United, but is just seeking a new challenge. After all who wouldn't want a job promotion & the chance to potentially play against world class teams every week? We'll bring you more as the story develops.

Jermaine hands in transfer request!

Published: 07. 01. 2010

Jermaine has handed in a formal transfer request at Leeds United. The revelation comes only days after Leeds 1-0 win over Manchester United. According to Leeds the request was made on the 30th December, 4 days prior to the FA cup win. This information was only leaked to the media by Jermaine's agent Nick Rubery.

Following his winning goal at Manchester United on Sunday, Jermaine Beckford’s long expected move to Newcastle is expected to cost the Championship club three million pounds.

Newcastle have been after the Leeds hitman for some time and had been expected to tie up a deal for 1.5 million pounds but despite Beckford having just six months of his contract left at Elland Road the League One side are looking to take advantage of their surprise FA Cup victory at Old Trafford.

Newcastle manager Chris Hughton said: "We're in for a striker and Jermaine is one of a few players we are interested in, but we won't panic. We have to be patient, there is a long month ahead of us."

Hughton added: "Jermaine's profile now goes up because the FA Cup game was on TV but everybody knows that was just one game. There is no deal done yet for Jermaine but all I can say is that we're working very hard on bringing in new players and I am very confident we will get the ones we want."

Leeds manager Simon Grayson admitted after the sensational win at Manchester United that Beckford could leave the League One leaders. Jermaine Beckford has scored 20 goals for Leeds in all competitions this season.

This looks as if it's really it this time. Jermaine looks as if he actually wants to leave the club, whatever happens you'll find it here first on jermainebeckford.co.uk. "What Shirt Am I Wearing Bruv?" it looks like a black & white one from where i'm sitting.

Whatever happens Jermaine has been amazing for United and every Leeds fan should remember that.

Jermaine wins PFA award!

Published: 05. 01. 2010

Congratulations to Jermaine Beckford after the Leeds United striker was once again named the PFA League One Fans' Player of the Month.

The 26-year-old took his seasonal tally to 20 with that memorable winning goal at Old Trafford on Sunday and, with his contract due to expire at the end of this season, it remains to be seen if the Yorkshire outfit can keep hold of their prize asset this month.

Leeds' boss Simon Grayson said: "There are three scenarios with Jermaine. Either he signs a new contract, leaves at the end of the season for free or we sell him and get money which we think is too good to turn down.

"Jermaine showed what he is all about for his goal. He worked ever so hard for his goal, took his opportunity and now has five goals in his last three games.

"Strikers are a precious commodity and we won't be letting him go on the cheap. Money talks with every player but we are not looking to sell him.

Replacements

"We don't want him to leave unless it is something that suits both him and the club. If that does happen, we will have to have replacements lined up."

Newcastle are the club being most strongly linked with a transfer widow swoop for Beckford, although the pacey frontman's display against Manchester United is sure to have grabbed the attention of a number of Premier League managers.

Magpies' boss Chris Hughton said: "I wasn't at Old Trafford to see Jermaine and there is no deal done yet. All we can see is that we are working very hard to bring players in and I am very confident we will get them.

"His profile goes up because the (Manchester United) game was on television, but everyone knows that this is just one game. Whether he had done well or badly, he would still be a talented player. He is one of a few players we are interested in."

Ironically, the PFA Championship Fans' Player of the Month Billy Sharp, currently on-loan at Doncaster from Sheffield United, is the man now being talked about as a possible replacement for Beckford at Elland Road

Becks takes down Manchester United!

Published: 03. 01. 2010

Jermaine Beckford's winner gave League One leaders Leeds a famous FA Cup victory over their fierce rivals Manchester United in a thrilling tie at Old Trafford.

Forty-two league places separate the two clubs following the Yorkshire club's dramatic fall from grace during the last decade but Simon Grayson's side showed the rate of their recent revival with a memorable triumph.

Man Utd had never before lost in the third round of the Cup - or been knocked out of it by a lower-division side - during Sir Alex Ferguson's 23-year reign as manager, but they began 2010 on the wrong end of their biggest upset in this competition since they were dumped out by Bournemouth in 1984.

It was a fully-deserved win for Leeds too, who were full of endeavour coming forward before Beckford outpaced the Man Utd defence to score and, just as importantly, defended as if their lives depended on it afterwards.

It could however be Jermaine's last goal and indeed game for Leeds United. The sought after striker who is out of contract during the summer has attracted interest from a number of teams in both the Championship and the Premiership. Newcastle are the current favourites for his signature. Whatever happens Jermaine made an outstanding contribution to the game today, and helped Leeds beat one of their old rivals. Well done Jamma.

Becks ready for Liverpool test!

Published: 22. 09. 2009

Leeds United take on premier league Liverpool at Elland Road tonight in the cup, the match is likely to be the current squads greatest test to date. Jermaine himself is relishing the clash, and is almost certain to be amoungst the starting line-up come 7:45pm tonight. The match itself is being broadcast live on Sky Sports 2, the Elland Road match is a complete sell out, and fans have been warned not to turn up on the night expecting to be able to purchase tickets.

It will be the first time Leeds have met Liverpool since they last played in the premiership the year Leeds were relegated, not a happy year for united fans. Betting odds on Jermaine are looking quite good and might be worth a punt for those of you who are looking to make some money tonight.

Good luck to the lads, Jermaine specifically, lets hope he can net a few tonight!

We're Back & He's Still Here!

Well... we're back! A brand new beautiful design, brand new features, and best of all Jermaine is still a Leeds United player! I know it seemed very unlikely at one stage, but we've got him until at least January.

Hopefully you'll all like the new design as much as i know i do. Its without doubt the cleanest, and most appealing layout yet. Last season is the past, yesterday is the past, right now is all that matters! This is the year of the gentleman, this is the year of Jermaine Beckford!

Jermaine is now off the transfer list and at one stage United manager Simon Grayson confirmed that contract talks were ongoing. It's now been a few weeks at least since this comment and still no news regarding Jermaine's future, one can only assume that the transfer talks are still taking place, hopefully a new deal can be thrashed out in the very near future. Of course here at JermaineBeckford.co.uk we will be the first to let you know as and hopefully when Jermaine eventually puts pen to paper.

Lets get behind Jermaine and fingers crossed his goals will help lift United back to the Championship. Marching On Together!

Jermaine sits out Stockport

Published: 14. 09. 2009

Jermaine has missed todays game with Stockport County due to a minor leg injury, the injury is not thought to be troubling him too much, but its thought he's be much better off resting rather than putting prolonged pressure on the leg. Simon Grayson the United manager has said that he expects Jermaine to be fit for the next United game on Friday night against Southend United at Roots Hall.

Beckford - Penalty King?

Published: 12. 09. 2009

Simon Grayson has turned his attention to resolving Leeds United's poor penalty record following Robert Snodgrass' miss against Stockport County on Saturday. Snodgrass became the fifth Leeds player to fail from the penalty spot in Grayson's short time at Elland Road, moving United's boss to highlight a problem which has existed throughout his tenure.
Luciano Becchio began the sequence of missed penalties at Brighton in January and he was also unable to convert from 12 yards against Yeovil Town two months later.

In between those efforts, Lee Trundle's saved attempt compounded a bad defeat at Hereford United in February, and Jermaine Beckford was denied by goalkeeper David Forde during the second leg of Leeds' play-off final against Millwall in May. To date, Snodgrass is the only player to have scored a penalty during Grayson's tenure during a 2-2 draw at Leyton Orient. Beckford has been touted as a possible candidate.

The Scot was nominated again on Saturday with Beckford injured but struck his effort against the legs of Owain Fon Williams. "We've missed far too many penalties in the eight months I've been here," Grayson said. "When we get these chances, we must start burying them."

Beckford stays with Leeds!

Published: 10. 09. 2009

LEEDS United manager Simon Grayson insists that Jermaine Beckford will not be leaving Elland Road this season. Grayson has also stressed that Beckford is 100 per cent focused on his job despite on-going speculation about his future.

Leeds host Stockport County tomorrow with Beckford seeking to shoot the club to a record eighth consecutive victory at the start of a new campaign.A host of Championship clubs are still chasing the 25-year-old striker but none could tempt Leeds into a deal before Tuesday's transfer deadline.

"There's been lots of speculation but Jermaine's still here," said Grayson. "It will probably start all over again before the January transfer window but, in the short term, he will be getting goals for us and trying to get us promoted." Beckford, who bagged 34 goals last season, has so far rejected the offer of a new deal and could walk away on a free transfer when his current deal expires next summer.

Grayson and chairman Ken Bates, however, are willing to take that risk because of Beckford's value to this season's promotion push. "If we win 46 games, I am sure he will be here next season," said Grayson. "But, if we are where we want to be in January it will be happy days for everyone. The more points we are clear, the easier it will be to keep our best players. "When we took Jermaine off the transfer list this summer, the chairman gave me his word that he wouldn't be sold and that was good enough for me. We don't make statements without following them through.

"People are speculating all the time but I had no worries that he would not still be here," Grayson added. "We're more than delighted to have him and more than delighted that he'll be here until the end of the season." Leeds slapped a £2.5m price tag on Beckford before removing him from the transfer list this summer.

Although the transfer window has closed until NewYear's Day, it only shackles those in the Premier League as clubs in the Football League are still able to make loan signings.

Jermaine Placed On Transfer List!!- 27/05/2009

Leeds United have sparked a summer scramble by placing leading goalscorer Jermaine Beckford on the transfer list. The League One hot-shot has rejected a new three-year contract at Elland Road so the Yorkshire club are looking to cash in on his talents.

A number of clubs will be keen to sign the proven goalscorer, who has been a massive hit since joining Leeds from Wealdstone. United were beaten in the play-offs by Millwall to ensure another season in the third tier of English football.

"The offer we have made to Jermaine is what we believe to be a very good offer, but he has exercised his right to turn it down," explained chief executive Shaun Harvey to the club's official website. "On the basis that he has 12 months remaining on his current contract and could leave on a free transfer next summer, we feel we must consider any offers that are forthcoming for him.

"In the event that no offers are forthcoming or the offers received are unacceptable to us, then he will remain part of Simon Grayson's squad next season." The 25-year-old has already been linked with a host of clubs and the bidding is expected to start in earnest soon.

Fingers crossed that Jermaine makes the right decision and stays with United, only time will tell.

Jermaine Offered New Contract!!!- 20/05/2009

Leeds United are set to offer 25-year-old striker Jermaine Beckford a new contract to stay at Elland Road. Last season's top scorer has 12 months left on his current deal and his agent had hinted he was prepared to move on if a new deal was not forthcoming.

Leeds chief executive Shaun Harvey told BBC Radio Leeds: "I've actually spoken with Jermaine's agent today [Tuesday]. "We will be forwarding an offer of a new contract to Jermaine now that our divisional status is known."

Earlier, Beckford's agent Nick Rubery had told BBC Radio Leeds that he had been trying to thrash out a new deal for his client for the last six months. He claimed that in the absence of a new contract, Beckford's departure was inevitable. "I can't see any other conclusion now," said Rubery.

"If there's no new offer coming in then Jermaine wants to know where he's going to be in the next two or three years. "It's looking increasingly unlikely that it's going to be at Leeds United."

But Harvey said that he believed Beckford wanted to stay at Elland Road and was confident they could entice him to remain. "I'd be disappointed if any Leeds fans interpreted what has been attributed to his agent as Jermaine's desire to leave.

"I understand Jermaine's desire to have his future resolved but I think there's plenty of time for us to resolve this matter over the summer." Beckford has scored 54 goals in 99 appearances for the club since signing from Wealdstone in 2006 and has attracted the interest of other clubs. He missed a penalty in Thursday's League One play-off semi-final, second leg draw against Millwall that saw Leeds miss out on promotion to the Championship.

Harvey said: "Having seen Jermaine's reaction at the end of Thursday's game where he was virtually inconsolable, that didn't look like the reaction of a person who was desperate to get away from a football club."

FIngers Crossed!

Jermaine To Stay?!!!- 18/05/2009

The highest scorer in England this season with 34 goals, Jermaine Beckford, has instructed his agent to commence contract talks with Leeds United.

He has just one year left on his existing contract, but after such a successful season, will be in demand with clubs in higher leagues, but first he wants to find out whether Leeds will want to offer him an extension. His agent, Nick Rubery, said today: “I’ll be speaking to Leeds this week to discuss his position.

“He’s got a year left on his contract and he needs to know where he stands.

“I don’t know what Leeds are thinking with regards to their future plans and what part he might play in them, but it’s something I need to clarify.

“Jermaine’s scored a lot of goals in League One and he obviously wants to test himself at a higher level, but he’s very open to the idea of signing a new contract with Leeds.

“He’s not looking to move on, but his situation needs sorting out.”

“I’d assume that Leeds would want to keep him, but I won’t know their thinking until I speak to the relevant people.

“The situation’s in their hands because we’re very willing to listen to what they have to offer.”

We here at JB.co.uk urge Ken Bates & Co to sign him up!!! ASAP!!

Play Off Heartache!!!- 17/05/2009

The underdogs Millwall beat Leeds to march on to the final at Wembley.

Millwall went up to Elland road as the underdogs on Thursday night, but they showed they still have their bite.

It was a very closely fought 1st half with Adam Boulder showing he meant business from the start by going in hard on Snodgrass in the first minute, but getting a booking for it. Neither team were giving much away although a few shots were being made.

Although after the break the Lions seemed to be off the pace, allowing Leeds to take control for a few minutes. The best was yet to come as things started to heat up.
Leeds were awarded a penalty for a foul on Sam Sodje who was held back in the area by Andy Frampton.
After handing coins that had been thrown at him to the referee, David Forde stood tall in the Millwall goal as Jermain Beckford stepped up to take the penalty.
Beckford & Forde have history from the last game at Elland road where Beckford elbowed Forde in the face and got away with it until he was pulled up by the FA because of the coverage on Sky tv.

Fordey gives Millwall a lifeline

In the 53rd minute Leeds played a great series of passes which ended with Luciano Becchio shooting at goal from close range and putting the whites 1-0 up.
Leeds tried to push further but in an effort to clear the goal area Millwall defender Zak Whitbread connected with David Forde's knee and ended up out cold on the floor. Luciano Becchio screamed at officials to get medical help as Zak lay unconscious on the floor for what seemed like an eternity. Bobby Bacic eventually brought him round after 7 minutes and it was back to business. To his credit Becchio stayed with Zak until he was up.

From that moment on the Lions bucked up and upped the pace again, the atmosphere was electric and the leeds fans looked very nervous.
In the 74th Minute Jimmy Abdou affirmed his place in the hearts of Millwall fans as Dave Martin crossed the ball from the left to Grabban who passed it into Jimmy's path and he tapped it in from close range.

The Leeds fans fell silent again... not even a peep, while the Millwall fans went mental.
The referee trying to even things up gave everything to the Leeds players, allowing them to be as rough as they like without punishment, but that wasn't going to stop the Lions who must have already had the sights of the Wembley pitch in the back of their minds.

They battled on and held their lines for the extra 8 minutes that were played to come out victorious!
The Millwall players came back onto the pitch to celebrate with the proud fans who had been made jump through hoops again to get to Elland road.
And now it's on to Wembley and Scunthorpe in the final

Hat Trick Hero!!!- 10/03/2009

United manager Simon Grayson named an unchanged side as his men went in search of a sixth successive home league victory.

The game was held up after just five minutes while Gavin Tomlin received treatment, following a strong challenge from Richard Naylor. United started the better of the two sides, although the closest Grayson's side came during the opening 15 minutes was when Ben Parker lifted a cross into the box, but there was too much on it for Luciano Becchio to get on the end of. There was another stoppage on 18 minutes when Fabian Delph and Aidan Downes clashed, following two rash challenges by the Yeovil man. Downes was booked and Leeds awarded the free-kick.

There had been little to warm the fans on a cold Elland Road night, but there was something to cheer about on 26 minutes when Jermaine Beckford opened the scoring. Ben Parker was the provider and Beckford capitalised by clipping the ball beyond Josh Wagenaar into the far corner.

Two minutes later Beckford had the ball in the net again when he latched onto a Becchio pass, but the flag was up for offside.United continued to threaten and Yeovil goalkeeper Wagenaar was called into action again on 31 minutes when he saved a Beckford header from close range. But the advantage was doubled before half-time when Neil Kilkenny scored with a terrific strike from 25 yards. Yeovil had their first real sight on goal at the start of the second period when Lee Peltier sent a free-kick from distance over the top.

It was United's turn to see goal next and, once again, Beckford made no mistake. Kilkenny was the provider and Beckford coolly slotted home his 20th league goal of the season to make it 3-0. Moments later, Beckford was denied his first ever league hat-trick when Aaron Brown twice blocked his shots from a tight angle.

That hat-trick did come on 58 minutes, though. Howson fed Beckford and United's leading goalscorer lifted the ball over the advancing Wagenaar to put the game beyond doubt. Another chance came United's way on 70 minutes when a Yeovil defender was adjudged to have handled a cross, but Becchio lifted the resultant penalty high over the bar.

It was a disappointment for Becchio, who was looking for a third successive goal, but it mattered little in the scheme of things as United eased towards a comfortable victory.

Jermaine sinks Lions!!- 09/02/2009

A goal in each half by Jermaine Beckford left Leeds United just two points off the top six and delivered a blow to Millwall's hopes of automatic promotion following the 2-0 result. Beckford wasted three other chances but his 32nd-minute goal was pure class.

The move covered almost the length of the Elland Road field as wingers Andy Robinson and Robert Snodgrass combined to ferry the ball to Beckford, who cut into the penalty box on the right and curled a sublime left-footed shot into the far top corner. Millwall claimed Gary Alexander's header - 10 minutes earlier - had crossed the line but a TV action replay showed Danish keeper Casper Ankergren make the save on the line before Richard Naylor completed the clearance.

Ankergren was just as alert in sprinting off his line and diving bravely at Izale McLeod's feet to deny the Lions an equaliser five minutes after the break and Leeds had another let-off when Alexander's free-kick flew inches too high from 20 yards. However, Beckford pounced again in injury time for his 23rd goal of the season, shooting past David Forde when Ankergren's long kick was helped on by substitute Luciano Becchio.

Millwall will feel aggrieved though given earlier in the second half Beckford clearly caught Forde with a stray arm while awaiting a corner kick. Beckford received a booking but had the match officials seen the incident more clearly it could have been a whole lot worse for the in-form striker.

Lets just hope Jermaine doesn't receive an FA ban for his frankly quite nasty elbow on the Millwall keeper. In the after match interview Jermaine exclaimed 'what incident'!

Well done Jamma!

Becks Back At The Double!!!!!!!- 24/01/2009

JERMAINE BECKFORD marked his return to action after almost a month out with a second-half brace to seal the points for Leeds United The United top scorer has been out with a hamstring injury but took just four minutes to find the net after pouncing on a mistake by Peterborough Joe Lewis.

Beckford then added a second on 72 minutes with a cool finish after being played through b y a sublime piece of vision and skill from Lee Trundle.Craig Mackail-Smith's 80th-minute reply meant it was a nervy end until Jonny Howson rounded off the scoring in the final minute to seal back-to-back wins for United for the first time since October.Simon Grayson made one enforced change from the side that beat Brighton & Hove Albion with Andrew Robinson coming in for injured captain Frazer Richardson.

The former Swansea City winger came in on the right side of midfield, meaning a shift back to right-back for Andrew Hughes as Leeds went in search of their first home win under the new manager.Beckford was back as a substitute after a hamstring strain he picked up in the 3-1 win at Stockport County on December 28.

Casper Ankergren was perhaps the busier of the two goalkeepers in the first 45 minutes with his acrobatic effort to deny George Boyd on 22 minutes being particularly impressive.Peterborough counterpart Lewis was also called into action, however, with Andy Robinson being unfortunate to see his drilled shot that followed some wonderful skill by Trundle being turned behind for a corner. Well done Jermaine, its good to have you back!

Becks Back?!!- 23/12/2008

Jermaine could be in contention for a suprise return against Leicester City on Boxing day. Jermaine has been out since picking up an injury well over 4 weeks ago.

Jermaine Beckford and Andy Robinson have both returned to training on Monday and are hoping to be back in contention for a starting place in the Boxing Day clash with Leicester City at Elland Road.

Beckford limped off in Leeds 2-1 defeat at Northampton in November and Andy Robinson limped out of the next game at Histon Town.

Beckford`s goal scoring has been badly missed in the last month with him already scoring 19 goals in 20 games in all competition`s this season.

Andy Robinson who has struggled to hold down a regular place this season has also chipped in with 5 goals in 13 games this season.

Lets hope they can both be back in action on Friday after Leeds have slipped down to ninth place in recent weeks, a run of results that have cost manager Gary McAllister his job after Saturday`s 3-1 defeat at MK Dons made it five defeats in a row

Out for a MONTH!!!- 26/11/2008

Leeds United have been hit with an injury blow to leading scorer Jermaine Beckford, who could be out for a month. The 24-year-old striker tore his hamstring towards the end of the Tuesday's defeat at Northampton.Manager Gary McAllister told the club's official website: "It's a big blow, to score 19 goals in 24 matches at any level is fantastic."We're giving it a week to settle before he has any scans, but at the moment it's not looking good."

Beckford scored Leeds' equaliser in the 2-1 defeat at Sixfields - his sixth goal in three games - but had to be helped from the field with 11 minutes to go.He will definitely miss Sunday's FA Cup second round tie at Histon, but could also be out for the busy Christmas period.McAllister said: "They feel it might be a grade two which can be anything from two-to-six weeks but he's a fit lad and that's a big thing.

Hat-Trick Hero!!!- 17/11/2008

Leeds United booked their place in the second round of the FA Cup with a great performance at Northampton Town. Leeds made six changes to the side beaten at home at the weekend including a debut to centre forward Malcolm Christie.Jermaine Beckford was recalled to the starting line up and he ended his goal drought with a terrific hat trick.

Leeds dominated the first half. Jermaine Beckford scored with a good strike that gave the Northampton keeper no chance, an own goal from Mark Hughes and a 35 yard shot from Ben Parker his first for the club gave Leeds a comfortable cushion.
Leeds did concede one when Jason Crowe scored with a header to reduce it to 3-1 just before half time. There was still time for Beckford`s super second goal before half time.

Beckford completed his hat trick early in the second half when he coolly rounded the Northampton keeper for his sixteenth goal of the season. That goal banished any thoughts Northampton had of making a second half fight back.

Leeds replaced the hat trick hero after seventy minutes along with debutant Malcolm Christie who can be happy with a good performance. I am sure Christie will bag quite a few goals in League One when he gets sharper. Leeds were to make another significant substitution when another product of the Leeds United academy, 18 year old Jonathan Webb came on to make his debut. Northampton grabbed a late consolation when Jason Crowe scored his second of the night, by now Leeds had well and truly taken their foot off the gas and were cruising into the second round.

Leeds will now meet Histon Town, once again in front of the TV cameras on Sunday 30th November.

Jermaine Seals The Win!!!- 11/10/2008

Jermaine scored twice in Leeds United's 3-1 win over Brighton at Elland Road. Jermaine notched up his 12th & 13th goal of the season in a solid performance from United.

Good approach play involving Frazer Richardson and Andrew Hughes created the opportunity for the Argentinian who volleyed into the net after having his initial effort blocked by a defender on 45 minutes. Then, just moments later, another fine move was rounded off by Beckford who headed past Michel Kuipers. United made six games to the starting line-up beaten in midweek by Rotherham United. Alan Sheehan suffered a recurrance of a hamstring injury in the defeat at Rotherham on Tuesday night and is out. Richardson, Beckford, Jonathan Douglas, Becchio, Fabian Delph and Aidan White all returned but one notable absentee in central defence was Paul Telfer with the veteran missing out due to a hamstring strain.

United made a good start to the game with Beckford volleying just wide, with Becchio clearing off the line at the other end. Richardson and Delph set-up Beckford who made no mistake to make it 3-0 in the closing minutes, before Glenn Murray found a late consolation for Brighton.

Another fine performance from Jermaine. The only way is up!!

Jermaine Wins League One Player Of The Month!!!!!- 08/10/2008

Jermaine has been awarded with his 3rd Award this week! The award he received today is probably the most significant after being named league one player of the month.

He scored four goals in as many games including a brace in the win against Swindon Town. Beckford's goals helped United to maximum points from their four league games during September.

David Forde of Millwall, Craig Mackail-Smith of Peterborough United and Southend United's Dougie Freedman were also shortlisted for the award.

Jermaine Scoops Another Award!!!!!!- 06/10/2008

Jermaine Beckford won his second award of September by being named the Powerade League One player of the month.

After somehow being overlooked in August he looked less likely to pick up the award for September with some of his opposition for the award doing as well or better than him.

Beck`s is delighted with the award which has come on the back of him already netting eleven times this season. When speaking about the award on the official website he was fairly philosophical when he said "It`s nice to get some goals early in the season because it`s all about helping us achieve what we want to achieve, but it`s where we are and what we have done in May that counts"

Congratulations on your double award winning month from all at Vital Leeds.

Jermaine Scoops Award!!!- 03/10/2008

Leeds United striker Jermaine Beckford has been named PFA 2UP League One fans' player of the month for September after taking his tally to 11 goals for the season.
Beckford netted four times in the calendar month as United won six games on the spin, including a Johnstone's Paint Trophy derby with Bradford City and a home Carling Cup clash against Hartlepool United.

PFA chief executive Mick McGuire said: "The League One Player of the Season last season, he has continued where he left off, already scoring 11 goals in league and cup games this season.

"His all round play suggests he is destined for great things."

Newcastle ready to make a move for Jermaine????- 23/09/2008

Newcastle United are again being linked with a possible swoop for Jermaine when the next transfer window opens in January. The news has resurfaced this week amoungst all the chaos at Newcastle. The Sunday Mirror says Magpies director of football Dennis Wise is a big admirer of the 24-year-old from his time as Elland Road manager. Beckford has bagged 11 goals in just nine starts for Leeds this term and Everton and Wigan have also run the rule over him, as have Wolves and Crystal Palace.

Interested clubs are aware that Beckford now has less than two years left on his contract which is bad news for United. Hopefully all this is is a rumour, there is no way of telling how costly it could be for both Leeds season as well as their future. We'll keep you updated with all of the speculation surrounding Jermaine's future.

Jermaine Adds yet another!!!- 21/09/2008

first goal of the game to put united 1-0 up against the run of play.

Becchio struck (31) after Paul Telfer put Neil Kilkenny's corner back into the danger zone and Robert Snodgrass crossed for Beckford's clincher (86). Frazer Richardson also went close when his 25-yard drive struck the crossbar, while Simon Hackney saw a cross run along the Leeds bar in the first half. This win ends Carlisle's 100% home record this season. Well done Leeds & Jermaine!!!!

Jermaine adds another 2! & Gets himself in the team of the week!!!- 17/09/2008

Jermaine Beckford's classy double saw 10-man Leeds beat Swindon in a fiery clash at the County Ground. Defender Alan Sheehan was sent off for a foul on Jon-Paul McGovern after just eight minutes in a match that eventually saw seven bookings. But Beckford put the visitors ahead after 21 minutes with a drilled shot before Simon Cox levelled for Swindon. Neil Kilkenny's 30-yard free-kick put Leeds back in front after half-time then Beckford made sure of victory. Another fine game for Jermaine. The Leeds United boss commented in an after match interview that Jermaine had an "outstanding game" in terms of how he contributed towards the team as a whole.

This impressive performance didnt go un-noticed. Jermaine secured himself a place in this weeks League 1 team of the week alongside team mate Fabien Delph. Well done boys. Marching On Together!

Jermaine Stays!!!!!!!- 02/08/2008

There was thankfully no move for Jermaine Beckford as the transfer-window shut at midnight. Jermaine fans were left fearing that our latest goalden boy was about to be picked off, by Charlton, but thankfully those rumours were left unfounded and Becks is ours until January at least. Whether it was loyalty on his part, Uniteds reluctance to sell him or just the fact that there were no bids, we'll never really know. But all that matters is that Jermaine will be staying at Elland Road for at least 5 months.

Transfer Deadline D-Day!!!- 01/09/2008

Today is the big day. The final day of this summers transfer window. The window us usually supposed to close at 12:00pm on the final day or August, after this no more transfers can be made. However as this years window falls on a Sunday, the window was extended by 24 hours for business reasons, meaning that it will now close at 12:00 pm tonight. This is a worrying time for Jermaine fans as there has been much speculation over the long summer linking Jermaine with other clubs. The latest of which surfaced yesterday linking him with a laughable £500,000 move to championship side Charlton. Fingers crossed that this time tommorow Jermaine will still be a Leeds United player.

Jermaine Steals A Point!!!- 31/08/2008

Jermaine Beckford rescued a point for Leeds in a match at home to Bristol Rovers that swung both ways. The hosts went ahead when Steve Elliot deflected Beckford's strike past goalkeeper Steve Phillips. But Richard Lambert levelled with a low volley and then Darryl Duffy gave them the lead when he finished off Stuart Campbell's cross. But substitute Enoch Showunmi teed up Beckford to save the day by chipping the ball in for the equaliser. The man is a true legend!! Thats 7 and counting for the season so far :-) !!

Jermaine Nets First League Goal This Season!!!- 09/08/2008

Jermaine scored a late goal to send Leeds to their first victory of the season. Leeds had a slow start to the season, barely making any chances inside the first half of the match. A Prutton long-shot was the closest United came to opening the scoring. However it was the home side Scunthorpe that looked the nost likely to score, coming close through 20 year old Gary Hooper. The deadlock was broken shortly after half time when the bright Hooper beat the united defence to make it 1-0 to Scunthorpe. United responded quickly making it 1-1 through new striker Enouch Showunmi. From there united took control and continued to batter the Scunny defence. Then the man of the moment none other than Jermaine Beckford became the hero when he lashed the ball into the net with less than 10 minutes remaining. United continued to pressure & managed to hold on to a well deserved win (based on the second half anyway). A great start to the season for both Leeds & Jermaine! Lets hope thats the first of many for him this season.

No News Is Good News!!!- 17/07/2008

Sorry about the lack of updates over the last month, but to be completly honest not a great deal has been going on. The only notable point is the goal Jermaine scored in Leed's first pre-season game. Hopefully thats a good sign of things to come in the upcoming league 1 season which kicks off on August 9th. Better still there has been no mention of any speculation linking Jermaine with other clubs. At the start of the transfer window, Jermiane was being linked with different clubs each day. Hopefully Jermaine will still be a United player at the start of next season.

Jermaine May Stay!!!- 28/05/2008

Some excellent news just reaching us is that there is a good chance Jermaine will remain with Leeds. The United leading scorer has been linked with a £4m move to a host of clubs but his agent claims he is in no rush to leave and will only go if Leeds decide to sell him. Beckford's agent, Nick Rubery, told the YEP: "Jermaine won't be walking into Leeds United and asking for a transfer. "He's got two years left on his contract and he's very settled in Leeds. He's very down after Sunday because it was a chance for him and the club to move to a higher level, but that's football. "If Leeds accept an offer from another club then we'd have to consider it, but that's up to the club to decide. "Jermaine won't be making any demands, and at the moment he's just getting over Sunday's game. He's happy at Leeds."

Jermaine Has Shocker, As United Falter At Wembley!!!- 27/05/2008

Jermaine was part of a frankly poor Leeds United side that lost 1-0 to Doncaster Rovers in the League 1 play-off final at Wembley on Sunday. Jermaine himself had very little input in the game managing only on half scuffed shot on target. The match overall was poor with united looking almost identical to the asbismal performance of the 2006 final against Watford. And already the rumours have started with Newcastle being touted as Jermaine's destination. Unless Jermaine himself is able to show any loyalty whatsoever then it looks like he has played his last match for Leeds United. If he leaves i for one will be extremely dissapointed after his sloppy end to the season and his quite frankly average performance in the play off final, the least he could do is show some loyalty and finish the job next season. It looks like soon enough we will see exactly "what shirt is he wearing bruv" as its looking increasinly likely it wont be a white one with a blue trim.

Jermaine Fit & Ready for Wembley!!!- 22/05/2008

Jermaine has been training normally for the past few days after recovering from the fatigue that he sustained juring the 2nd leg of the Play-Off semi-final against Carlisle in which he played the full 90 minutes. There was no further aggrivation to his leg injury which has kept him out of the last few games of the domestic season. In a pre-match build up interview United boss Gary McCallister stated that "Jermaine if fine" excellent news for all Leeds United Fans. We'll be at Wembley on Sunday all thats left to do is to wish Jermaine the best of luck and hope he can send us back to the championship. Marching On Together.

Jermaine Flick On Sends Leeds To Wembley!!!- 17/05/2008

Jermaine played the full 90 minutes as Leeds made an amazing comeback to book themselves a place in the play off final at Wembley next Sunday. Although still looking a little short of match fitness, Jermaine created an opening just after 10 minutes when he flicked on a ball which resulted in uniteds first goal. Johnny Howson took the ball under control before firing low into the back of the net. This took the score level on aggregate. Leeds then took the game to Carlisle who were on the back foot for the duration of the game before Howson popped up just after the 90 minute mark to fire a low ball across goal which crept into the Carlisle net. Taking the score to 3-2 to united on aggregate. The final whistle went leaving the fans in a frenzy. Jermaine returned to the dressing room for a short while, before returning to the pitch for a celebration with the away fans. Overall a job well done by Beckford and Leeds. United and Beckford are off to Wembley! See you there!

Game On!!!- 13/05/2008

Jermaine made his much anticipated return from injury against Carlisle on Monday in Leed's crunch league 1 play off semi final at Elland Road. The comeback was short though with Jermaine showing a clear lack of fitness. That said he did show moments of pure magic as he forced Carlise keeper into a jaw dropping save just after 20 minuites. Jermaine's game came to an end after 50 minutes shortly after Leeds went 2-0 down. Jermaine looked annoyed and distressed and made no secret of his dissapointment at being substituted. United boss Gary McCallister said "Jermaine looked tired". His replacement was fellow striker Tresor Kandol who had a good impact towards the end of the game. United managed to claw back a last gasp goal making Thursdays return trip even more nervy. FIngers crossed Jermaine will train hard today and and tommorow ensuring that he is able to take some part in the crucial match.

Back In Training!!!- 09/05/2008

Jermaine began training yesterday after missing the last 4 games of the season through an ankle injury which he picked up against Leyton Orient. It is thought that Jermaine will play alongside Dougie Freedman in the final game at home of Leeds Uniteds 46 game season. He managed to complete a full training session with the rest of the squad yesterday and is working hard to ensure that he will be fighting fit before the crucial clash with Carlisle at Elland Road on Saturday. After the mid-week devestation and the hands of an arbitration panel that stated "it would cause termoil to present Leeds with a re-instantiation of their points" We hope Leeds get what they deserve on Saturday. If there is anyone that is capable of winning such is big match its the man himself. We wish Jermaine lots of luck and hope he bangs in a few goals on the big day. Check back here for more news as and when we get it!

Jermaine scoops treble award!!!!- 30/04/2008

Beckford has enjoyed a treble success at this yeats Leeds United Player of the Year Awards. The striker won the Players' Player of the Year, the Fans' Player of the Year and the Fans' Goal of the Year Awards. This season Beckford, 24, became the first Leeds player to score 20 league goals in a single campaign since Mark Viduka in 2002/03.

Beckford scoops League 1 award!!!- 28/04/2008

Jermaine was last night announced in the PFA's league 1 team of the year. Jermaine was alongside Swansea's Jason Scotland as the two strikers of the season in the league. It is thanks to Jermaine's 20 league goals that Leeds have completed the impossible. From being deducted 15 points by the football league at the start of the season they now find themselves sitting pretty guaranteed a play off spot. This in theory means that they could be a few wins away from bouncing straight back to the championship. If they do then surely credit must go to the Leeds United Star who has won games that at times had little hope.

Jamma Nominated!!!!- 18/04/2008

The third annual Football League Awards ceremony will take place on Sunday. The 19 awards presented will include the player of the year in each division - while the goal of the year award covers all three divisions during 2007. As Well as standing a chance of winning League 1 player of the season Jermaine also stands a chance of picking up goal of the year for an amazing goal that he scored when on loan to Scunthorpe late last year. We wish Jermaine all the best and hope he gets the credit and recognition that he deserves.

Jermaine Game!!!!- 12/04/2008

We have a brand new game on www.jermainebeckford.co.uk simular to the "save chip" game run by BSKYB's soccer am, basically the aim of the game is to get a photo of jermaine holding a piece of paper with this website name on. I've made a premade template which can be printed in microsoft word that is available here: http://www.mediafire.com/?anpxgmytbnj the first person to do this will become a legend amoungst jermaine fans. Good luck and get snapping!!

Jermaine Picks Up Injury !!- 13/04/2008

Jermaine limped off in Saturdays 3-2 home win over promotion chasing Carlisle. The injury is not thought to be anything too serious but meant Jermaine was forced to be substituted after 51 minutes after his injury from earlier in the week resurfaced. Tresor Kandol his former regular strike partner stepped in to good effect. Jermaine can be seen on the left celebrating after Dougie Freedman equlaised for Leeds making it 1-1. Fingers crossed Jermaine will be fit for the final 4 games of the season. He will need to recover quick if he is to make it in time for Leeds Tuesday nights crucial match with Huddlesfield. If Leeds can seal a win its looking increasingly likely that the boys will have at least another 6 games this season, hopefully 7!!! or even more hopefully 4. Thats if Leeds 15 point penalty is overturned at a hearing which will commence this wednesday.

Leeds seal win - but Is It 2-0 or 20 ?!- 07/04/2008

Jermaine boosted Leeds United's promotion hopes by scoring in the 2-0 win against Leyton Orient last week. O's defender Tamika Mkandawire had to clear off the line moments before the legend that is Jermaine Beckford put the ball in the net, only to be ruled offside. (which it clearly wasn't_ Paul Huntington did eventually put Leeds ahead when he got the final touch to a Bradley Johnson free-kick. O's keeper Glenn Morris saved from Jonathan Howson and Dougie Freedman before Freedman crossed from the left for our boy Beckford to slot home his 20th goal this season. Jermaine has now become United's biggest goal scorer in a season since Mark Viduka notched up 20 a few long seasons ago. Well Done Jermaine!!!

Jermaine is Player of the Year !!- 05/12/2007

Leeds United striker Jermaine Beckford was named League One's Player of the Year at the Football League's annual award ceremony in London last night. Beckford said: "I can't think of a better feeling right now. "I didn't set any targets at the start of the season, other than to prove myself. As a club we are aiming for promotion. It looks like it might come via the play-offs, but you never know about automatic promotion.

"It's a massive honour, it really is. I don't know if they have picked the right person but goals speak for themselves and I am really happy." The strike which earned Beckford the Goal of the Year award – a curling effort from the edge of the box came against the Millers at Glanford Park in February of last year.

Jamma Gets Shirty!- 25/01/2008

Jermaine was on hand to unveil his new themed T-Shirt which is now available both via the Leeds online store or via the club shop at Elland Road. Its reasonably priced at £12 and is a must for all Jermaine fans! Hopefully this 100% confirms that Jermaine will remain with the club, which is excellent news.

I've also made some new Jermaine wallpapers, which are available in the multimedia section of the website.

One up, One Down !!- 05/12/2007

Jermaine netted his 11th goal of the season in the comfortable 3-0 win against Port Vale at Elland Road last night. Although the official attendance stood at little over 20,000 the stadium certainly had a good atmospehere.David Prutton oped the scoring for United after 16 minutes with a short range headed goal. The lead was doubled when Beckford finally converted after having hit the post twice in the opening period of the match. Unfortunatly Jermaine limped off in the 68th minute replaced by Tore Andre Flo who proceeded to score the 3rd goal of the match with a beautifully taken volly. The good news is that Jermaine should be fit for the 2nd home game in a row against Huddlesfield on Saturday at Elland Road :)

Jamma Bangs One In + Shows His Luv, Bruv !!! !!- 15/01/2008

Jermaine slammed in his 16th of the season in the 1-0 win over Crewe at Gresty Road making him one of the most desirable football players in demand. After the match he had this to say. "It's the first header I've scored this season, man!"I'm over the moon with it...I've scored with everything now; left foot, right foot, head," was his opening gambit.Beckford though gave the response we'd all love to give to those typically banal questions that tend to be thrown at players down in the tunnel."A credit to Peter Sweeney for the cross as well, it was a great cross wasn't it?" "You saw it," was Beckford's astute, and perfectly honest, response before helping Greg Whelan out with his extra analysis of "it was a peach".Finally, Whelan wanted it straight from the horse's mouth regarding the transfer speculation surrounding the striker and Derby County's interest.Whelan asked: "Where do you see your own future?"To which Beckford replied: "What shirt am I wearing, bruv? You bein' serious?

Jermaine Bags A Brace !!- 18/11/2007

I was at Elland Road yesterday to watch Jermaine Beckford net his 9th and 10th goals ont this years league one season. The first goal came after 32 minutes when a Swindon Town player was adjudged to have handled the ball by the match officials. Jermaine cooly stepped up to the penalty spot, blasting the ball home giving Peter Brezovan in the Swindon goal no chance. Swidon however equalised shortly after the break, before the star man himself met a ball from his strike parnet Kandol chested it and burried the ball in the back of the net. Jermaine then ran to celebrate down by the South stand to celebrate the goal. Overall a good performance and Jermaine showed again what a quality individual he is..

Back On Track !!- 27/10/2007

Jermaine netted a much needed confidence boost by scoring once in the 4-2 win against Millwall at Elland Road this afternoon. Jermaine hadn't scored for Leeds since the win against Swansea City. He was substituted in the final seconds of the game and went of to a round of applause and sported a huge smile as he departed the field. Congratulations to Jermaine, this now takes his tally for the season to 7, putting him on par with his fellow Leeds striking partner Tresor Kandol.

Jamma puts pen to paper - 11/10/2007

Leeds legend Jermaine Beckford has extended his contract with Leeds by 3 years this will keep him at the club until the end of the 2009/2010 season! Dennis Wise was keen to reward Jermaine who has made a fantastic start to the new season scoring 7 goals making him one of the highest goal scorers in League 1.
